The State University of New York recently announced honorees of the Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowships. The fellowships are awarded to students who graduated this academic year with a SUNY bachelor’s degree and who are continuing their education at one of SUNY’s 64 campuses for a graduate degree.
Bridget Pitre ’20 from Sayville, NY, and Kelsey Zorn ’20 from Leicester, NY, were each selected to receive fellowship awards of $5,000. The fellowship is a one-year grant to be used to defray non-tuition expenses such as room, board, textbooks, and other costs of attending a SUNY institution.
“We are immensely proud to recognize these exceptional students from across SUNY who have worked tirelessly to excel in their fields of study,” said SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson. “Their recognition today as the winners of the Chancellor’s Graduate Scholarship Award will no doubt inspire countless other students to pursue their educational path at SUNY, and in turn, we will continue to provide access and opportunities to invest in tomorrow’s innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.”
Pitre, who earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in international relations, will return to SUNY Geneseo in the fall for a master’s in accounting degree.
Zorn, who earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood/childhood education with a concentration in human development, will also be returning to Geneseo for the Reading and Literacy B–12 master’s program.
The Chancellor’s Fellowship was awarded to only 55 seniors of SUNY’s top bachelor’s degree students who maintained a GPA of at least 3.3 and who exemplify the SUNY system motto: To Learn, To Search, To Serve. The program was announced in January 2020 during the chancellor’s third State of the University System address. Grants are funded through prior New York State investment in higher education to SUNY.
