Student Health and Counseling invites all students to attend Mindful Yoga for Mental Health, a FREE weekly yoga class on campus. Mindful Yoga for Mental Health is a slower yoga class focused on the mind-body connection to enhance wellbeing and to decrease stress.
This weekly drop-in class is held on Fridays, 12:30 to 1:30 pm. in the Schrader Dance Studio (above UPD). We encourage faculty and staff to attend as a means to encourage students, to cultivate community, to support a sense of belonging, and to promote healthy wellbeing.
Fall classes on Fridays will run from September 6th through December 6th (no class during Thanksgiving break in November). Also available: Midday Mindfulness, a weekly drop in Zoom class Tuesdays at 12 pm.
The class is instructed by Dr. Beth Cholette (she/her), Assistant Director for Counseling Services. Beth is both a licensed clinical psychologist and a registered yoga instructor. She has number of specialized yoga certifications, including Mindful Trauma-Informed Yoga and Yoga for All. She welcomes all bodies and abilities to class. Read more about Beth's background and link to her YouTube videos from her Mind-Body pages on the Geneseo website.
Mindful Yoga for Mental Health is sponsored by Health Promotion, Department of Student Health and Counseling. The yoga classes are held when academic classes are in session.
