Hello and welcome to Student Health and Counseling! My name is Kaydean Harris and I am a family nurse practitioner. I have worked as a nurse for over 10-years and began practicing as an NP in 2018 after graduating from the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Working in the student health center has allowed me to connect with a variety of individuals from various walks of life, which brings me great joy and purpose. I enjoy putting a smile on the faces of my patients, especially when they may not be feeling their best. I believe that a joyful heart is like medicine to one’s flesh and refreshment to the bones. My philosophy of practice is to treat every patient with respect, love and unconditional regard. Being caring and compassionate goes a long way, and my goal is that no patient walks away without feeling that they were fully heard and cared for.
Outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. Fun fact: I migrated to the United States from Jamaica at the age of 12. I was also the very first in my family to graduate from college and earn a doctoral degree. My hobbies include gardening, travelling, shopping and serving others. I am involved in various ministries at my local church. And I will never hesitate to volunteer for a good cause.
