Dr. James Oigara is an Assistant Professor in the Ella Cline Shear School of Education, where he serves as a methods instructor with a strong focus on enriching social studies education. He collaborates closely with  local community partners to create authentic, real-world learning experiences for students. Dr. Oigara's  current research explores the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) into teaching and learning, particularly through the use of primary source instructional strategies. He is a Principal Investigator (PI) for the Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) project, supported by the Library of Congress. In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Oigara is an active scholar in the field. He is a peer reviewer for several academic journals and a board member of the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning ( ISETL), where he contributes to advancing innovative pedagogical practices.
