Attend GOLD Seminars

GOLD Seminars: Gather insight on creating a professional brand, networking, and internship search strategies. Attend: Creating a LinkedIn, Networking 101, and Finding an Internship

Informational Interview/Job Shadow

Informational Interview Resource– connect and ask to talk with an alumni in a field of interest. (*See resource below). These conversations are one of the most impactful strategies to explore careers, make connections, and conduct a job search. Often this call or meeting will lead to an in-person introduction and an opportunity to experience a work environment first hand or to “job shadow”.


Consider the following platforms to connect:
  • Geneseo Alumni Career Advisor Network - A relatively new and impactful resource that offers our students an opportunity to be best “matched” with alumni in their field of interest. Offers an easy and convenient process to connect and set up video or phone discussions. (*Must start by creating your profile.
  • LinkedIn - #1 national job search and networking platform. Use filters to search and connectwith alumni in your field of interest.

Experience comes in many forms and does not have to be paid, or even for credit. It is any experience that helps you develop and refine your interests and skill set that can come from:
