Piano Pedagogy

Why study piano pedagogy at Geneseo?

The piano pedagogy minor is offered to students who attend private piano lessons and exhibit independence, responsibility, and growth in their musical and technical proficiency. In addition to coursework, students observe piano class sessions, study the piano class textbook and exercises, and serve as piano class assistants. They also provide tutoring sessions and advice on practicing strategies, scales and arpeggios, and memorization practices.
