Accounting Master's

Why study accounting at Geneseo?

The master’s in accounting program in the School of Business meets the New York State CPA licensure requirements, as well as providing skills and knowledge expected for superior performance in the increasingly demanding accounting profession. The program is designed as full-time (fall admission) with most students completing the degree in one year. Core courses cover topics in financial, managerial, and tax accounting, advanced audit, and a capstone in financial accounting theory and research. Additional courses cover information systems, quantitative methods, managerial economics, and advanced financial management.

Fifth-year graduates enjoy numerous benefits: Their advanced skills, knowledge, and experience frequently translate to faster advancement and better career prospects. They need only one year of work to meet the experience requirement for CPA licensure, and they have significantly higher pass rates on the CPA exam.
