Next Steps for Admitted Graduate Students
Congratulations on admission to one of SUNY Geneseo's graduate programs! To confirm your enrollment, please follow the instructions below.
- 1. Accept our offer of admission

To accept our offer, refer to the instructions provided in the email containing our offer of admission. The procedure will require the submission of a non-refundable tuition deposit to reserve your place in the program. Once complete, you will be eligible for advisement and to register for class. Early registration will ensure the best scheduling options since some sections may become unavailable with time.
- 2. Make your tuition deposit

The most convenient option is paying online via the Graduate Admissions Application Portal (details are listed in the email containing our offer of admission).
You may also pay in person by cash, check, money order, or debit/credit card. Please visit the address below if paying in person. If paying over the phone, call the Office of Admissions at 585-245-5040 during the hours listed below.
Please allow 24 hours after paying your deposit to move on to Step 4.

Geneseo, New York 14454 - 3. Complete financial aid forms

If you haven’t done so already, complete the Geneseo Graduate Student Free Financial Aid Form to be considered for an institutional need-based scholarship. Students who wish to borrow federal loans must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal loans are available for students attending at least six credit hours per semester.
- 4. Receive your Geneseo Account

Follow the instructions here to receive access to your Geneseo account. You must have paid your deposit at least 24 hours prior to continuing with this step.:
- Affirm the Code of Conduct
- Set up your Multi-Factor Authentication
- Change your password
- 5. Access myGeneseo

Login to myGeneseo using your Geneseo Username and Password which you set up in #4 above:
Check your Geneseo Gmail. Check this account regularly; the college will be using this email address exclusively.
Explore additional resources at myGeneseo.
From myGeneseo, you can also access your academic records (Explore DegreeWorks) and your financial balances. You can customize your page with links to your favorite websites and other customization options.
- 6. Register for classes

Once you have accepted our offer of admission, you will be contacted by the respective program director (via letter, email, or phone) with information regarding the next steps for registration.
For questions regarding course registration, please contact Dr. Harry Howe (MS Accounting), Dr. Jeanne Galbraith (Education), or Dr. Justin Behrend (History).
In the meantime, please familiarize yourself with the college policies and requirements detailed in the Guide to Graduate Studies. To access the current edition, select it from the drop-down menu located in the upper right corner of the page.
- 7. Review and accept your federal financial aid awards

If you have applied for Federal financial aid: Review and accept your Financial Aid by logging into myGeneseo and clicking the Financial Aid Dashboard.
- 8. Ensure you meet the computing requirements

Review SUNY Geneseo's laptop requirements and prepare your computer for the Geneseo network.
You can also set up your mobile devices with Geneseo apps and access, including the Navigate student app.
- 9. Select tuition payment options

- Make your semester payment.
- Complete the monthly tuition payment plan form (if applicable).
- Set up direct deposit for student refunds.
- 10. Upload immunization and health forms

Complete all required online health forms at myhealth.geneseo.edu.
- 11. Check your Geneseo email for correspondence from advisors

As a graduate student, you will not have an on-campus mailbox. All mailings will be sent directly to your off-campus/permanent mailing address.
Email is the primary means of communication between faculty, staff, and students.
Check your Geneseo Gmail regularly; the college will be using this email address exclusively.
- 11. Obtain a Geneseo student ID card from Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS)

In order to receive your Geneseo I.D. card, you must have already registered for your first semester courses.
Bring a print-out of your class schedule along with your driver’s license to Campus Auxiliary Services in Blake A 108.
You can print a copy of your course schedule directly from myGeneseo.
When you are in the office, you will have your picture taken and receive your I.D. card. There is a fee to replace a lost card.
- 12. Get your parking permit and find out where to park

If you will be driving to and parking on campus while taking classes, you must have a parking permit and park in the commuter parking lots.
