Political Science & International Relations
Welcome to the Department of Political Science and International Relations at SUNY Geneseo. Our mission is to foster a curiosity of politics in the United States and around the world, helping students become engaged global citizens. In addition to the B.A. in Political Science, the department is also home to the interdisciplinary B.A. in International Relations, allowing students to focus on Development and Sustainability Studies, Global Political Economy, Comparative and Regional Studies, or War and Peace. We also coordinate several interdisciplinary minors, including Conflict Studies and Public Administration.
The department is home to award-winning faculty that research local, national, and global politics. We have a strong tradition of study abroad (Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Morocco, Egypt, Peru, Ghana, Japan, Oxford, Germany, Russia, and more), and support the Model United Nations Club that participates in numerous conferences annually. Our students have the opportunity to take career trips and network with alums in Washington, DC, and learn from panels/round tables of leading scholars and practitioners on current events in politics.
The focus of the department is on analytical sophistication, enabling graduates to think critically about political life in a variety of settings. By exploring the information on this website you will learn about the wide-range of Political Science courses we offer.
