Lambda Pi Eta Chapter Meeting
April 27th 2010 5:30PM
For our can and bottle drive we planned on donating the money to Haiti through Faceaids, but we cannot do that any longer, they have already met their goal.
We thought of the idea to donate our money to the Mary Kavanaugh scholarship fund.
Karen will find out information about the scholarship and let Kim know.
E-mails of those who would help with the induction next semester:
Alyssa Colosi- Aac4
Maureen Wenzel- Mw9
Meghan Brill- Mmb16
Dr. Harrigan will send e-mails to these people and let them know how to help in the future.
Main jobs will include ordering food and speaking at the induction etc.
Time and day of the induction: A Wednesday at 7:30 PM
Possible options for where: Hunt room in the union, Sturges auditorium and the mosaic room.
It was decided that next year Lambda meetings will take place on Tuesdays at 6:30 or 7PM and will continue to be held in Milne 213.
Good luck to everyone!

March 30, 2010 5:30PM
T-Shirt Sale:
We just made it. We needed to sell exactly 48 shirts and that is how many were sold.
The order has been placed and can be ready as soon as Friday.
We plan to distribute the t-shirts sometime next week.
Kim will be e-mailing details to those who signed up to distribute the shirts.
Act of Service:
This will take place on April 11th from 2-4, if we are done earlier that is fine.
The can drive has been approved by Chip Matthews.
Kim will send out an e-mail with details next week for those who signed up for the various tasks.
We should have posters made for the can drive by the end of this week.
These will be sent to Dr. Harrigan and she will make them through the communication department.
A Facebook group will be made in order to publicize the event and it will also be submitted through the Whats-up digest.
Those signed up to make the fliers are Nick and Sierra.
Those signed up to post the fliers around campus will be Katelyn and Jillian.
Alumni Panel:
The panel was held in the basement of Welles last year.
We are thinking of having it in a room similar to Milne 213 this year, which has more space.
The date will be April 14th at 7PM.
The alumni will be contacted in the next few days.
The four we decided on are Maegan Williams, Jessica Resnick, Erin Tydings and Corey Alverson.
Someone from the Alumni Panel committee will go to Erwin and ask about free Geneseo gifts for the Alumni who attend.
Honors cords have been ordered and paid for.
For those who do not have them yet they will be available at the next meeting which is April 27th.
This April meeting is the last meeting of the year and Kim will turn her duties over to Liz, who will be the new President of Lambda Pi Eta.
Meeting adjourned at 5:44PM
Lambda Pi Eta Chapter Meeting
February 23, 2010
Start time 5:33 PM
Honors cords distributed
If you have not gotten one yet e-mail Kim and you can still purchase one
Alumni Panel: We are still trying to find alumni who would like to attend our panel discussion.
It will take place on Wednesday April 14th at 7pm.
At our next meeting please try to come with names of possible alumni. Also if you think of one you can e-mail Kim with the information.
Two names were brought up: Norma Holland, Erin Tightings (Names not spelled correctly)
Act of service: We decided on a can and bottle drive on Sunday, April 11th.
We will need volunteers to drive/return and to make the posters. Signup sheets were distributed.
All of the money for this fundraiser will go to the Face Aids program which works with a corporation that will match the money. Therefore whatever we raise will be doubled and go directly to a clinic in Haiti.
T-Shirts:
We are looking for multiple volunteers to take orders in the Blake lounge area, on March 1-4 from 12PM-2PM, and March 8-11 from 12PM-2PM. They are all one hour shifts.
We are thinking the t-shirts will cost around $10.00.
We must raise $120.00 to replace the money for the induction ceremony.
*Make sure you remember that you must purchase shirts by check or money order.
T-shirt logos: Two rounds of voting
Top two designs were “This shirt is a Medium.” and the communication design “Whatever your Method”
Winner: “This shirt is a Medium.”
Shirt color options included: Blue/greenish color, purple, red, black, pink, yellow, “Jade dome” and “Sapphire”
Winner: Sapphire (Blue/green)
Other ideas included: The front of the shirt will stay the same and font on back will match.
To do something to “medium” to make it stand out, this could be italicized.
The word Communication on the front could be written in some sort of script (like the Espanol shirts on campus)
Final decision was to try and get the script if it does not cost more money. This will be on the front of the shirt and the back will say “This shirt is a Medium.”
Our next meeting will be on March 30th at 5:30PM.
We will try to get the same room (Milne 213)
Reminder to look for alumni over the next month!
Meeting adjourned at 6:18PM
Lambda Pi Eta Chapter Meeting
Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Start time: 6:00PM
Welcome! We are still working on getting the time moved back for our meeting next month. We will see if we can get a different room and push the meeting to 5:30 PM.
Our website is revised and looks great! Check it out at http://www.geneseo.edu/~lambda/
T-shirts:
Next meeting we will vote on a design so tell your friends about the contest. Remember to submit any design ideas in the box in the Communication Department office starting tomorrow 1/27/10 through 2/19/10.
We will choose colors and vote on a design at the next meeting.
Decide on the act of service:
We were thinking a publicity event. Ideas include a food drive to help a local business, for the Nicaragua project or the daycare.
Other ideas to date include:
Danielle: Do a fundraiser for Haiti.
We could possibly put on an event and also publicize for it.
We must remember the rules and guidelines that have to be followed and approved by Chip Matthews before we can plan our act of service.
We can have a bottle/can drive as a way to fundraise for our event.
Karen: We can possibly work with another group on campus who is working with Fleet feet Rochester who is sending shoes to Haiti.
Our final decision was to do some sort of fundraiser for Haiti as our act of service. We will look into what other organizations are doing and what are some possible options for this event.
Some ideas for a fundraiser for the event could be shoveling snow, a dodge ball tournament, or a bottle and can drive.
Rachel: “Hugs for Haiti” Sell Hersey kisses for a certain amount of money in the union.
Finally, next time we will discuss the alumni panel where we will need 4-5 people to come and talk about their experiences, what their communication major did for them, and various opportunities out there.
If you know any alumni who would be interested please let us know. We cannot pay them but will give them a t-shirt or something of that nature.
The panel will be held sometime in April. Come with contact information at the next meeting if you know someone who would be willing to participate.
Next meeting will be on February 23rd. This is a very important meeting!
We will be: Starting to plan our Haiti fundraiser, working on the panel, voting on the t-shirt design and placing orders.
Thanks for coming!

Lambda Pi Eta Meeting
December 1st 2009
Meeting Minutes
6:00PM College Union 319
Kim- President
Liz- Vice President
Jillian -Secretary
Nick- Treasurer
Nicole-Public Relations Coordinator
Sarah- Administrative Liaison
Alyssa- Technology Specialist
Four main things to address this year:
1) Fundraiser with t-shirts or hoodies
2) Alumni panel
3) Act of service
4) Induction for next year (address this at end of the year)
Fundraiser:
Hoodie, t-shirt, or both? Keep in mind that choosing a Hoodie will be more expensive.
We need to do this fundraiser because it is our primary fundraiser.
We need to replace the money we borrowed for next year’s induction.
Liz- Thinks it would be best to just do t-shirt sales
Go with an old design or a new design? Do a contest? Vote/ not vote?
We chose to have a new design with a contest!
We want to put together a team to organize the process-
Their responsibilities:
- place order through royalties
- pick up the t-shirts
- distribute them
Who wants to be on the t-shirt team?
Nicole, Danielle, Liz, Natalie, Meryl, Maureen, Ale, Megan
Just a start! More can join if they wish. We will address this team again at the next meeting.
We will also discuss the contest logistics at the next meeting.
Act of service:
Ideas?
Nick: rubber duck races (a fundraiser idea)
Megan: Publicity campaign for a food drive or local business
Danielle: Could do a campaign for the day care center on the lower part of campus
(Also consider a campaign for the Nicaragua project with the business department)
No other suggestions as of now.
Many people liked the publicity idea!
Reminder: Our next meeting is January 26th 2010
We are considering moving up the time of our meetings because other communication classes occur during this time. We will send an e-mail if there is a time change.
Good luck to those graduating!
Meeting adjourned at 6:11PM.
