Welcome to Mind-Body at Geneseo!

I'm Beth, also known as Dr. Beth or YogiBethC. I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PhD) with over twenty-five years of experience in a college setting. I am also a registered yoga teacher (RYT). With these two areas of expertise, I am able to provide a unique combination of psychological services and holistic programming. On campus, I have had specialized competency trainings with Safe Zone and ACCC. I have had specialized yoga trainings in the areas of Mindful Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yoga for All, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga Anatomy, and Yoga for Healthy Aging. My office and yoga classes welcome everyone, and I strive to offer yoga accessible to various bodies and abilities.

Mind-Body Resources on Campus

Mindful Yoga for Mental Health - Weekly Drop In Live Class

Mindful Yoga for Mental Health is a FREE weekly drop-in yoga class sponsored by Health Promotion (Student Health and Counseling) and open to the entire Geneseo campus community (students, faculty, staff). We practice together to cultivate community, to support a sense of belonging, and to promote healthy wellbeing. Mindful Yoga for Mental Health is a slower yoga class focused on the mind-body connection and designed for various bodies and abilities.

Mindful Yoga for Mental Health is offered FRIDAYS, 12:30-1:30 pm in the Schrader Dance Studio (above UPD) - first date for Fall 2024 is September 6th (no class during Thanksgiving break in November). Mats and other props are available for use on loan during this class; gather your props from the wooden cabinet outside of the studio (top of stairs, near Schrader gym).

Here's what some past attendees said were their favorite aspects of these yoga classes:

  • How much a safe space it is
  • The calming positive nature of it
  • Options for ways to make it more comfortable for my body/my skills
  • Doing something good for my body at the end of a stressful week
Midday Mindfulness - Weekly Drop In Zoom Class

Midday Mindfulness is a FREE weekly drop-in Zoom class sponsored by Health Promotion (Student Health and Counseling) and open to the entire Geneseo campus community (students, faculty, staff). Midday Mindfulness is offered via Zoom TUESDAYS, 12:00-12:30 pm - first date for Fall 2024 is September 10th (no class during Fall Break in October). The link to this class is below. You will need to sign on no later than 12:05 pm and wait for the host to let you into the Zoom meeting.

Embodied Intervention - 1:1 Appointments for Students

Embodied Intervention appointments are designed as brief informational and experiential sessions. These 1:1 appointments with Beth introduce students to embodied practices such as mindfulness, breathwork, body scan, and/or basic yoga postures. Appointments are generally 30-45 minutes, with the option for a follow-up.

To request an Embodied Intervention appointment:

  1. Go to the My Health student health portal,
  2. Chose the schedule an appointment option.
  3. Follow the instructions for Counseling Services - Embodied Intervention.

(Please note that Embodied Intervention appointments are NOT mental health therapy sessions.)

Programming Requests

Would like to arrange a program for your class, group, club, or organization? I have adapted my yoga classes and other mindfulness programming to various settings, including classrooms and Zoom presentations. If I am not available to join you live, I might be able to offer a pre-recorded program (posted to YouTube) to fit your needs.

If you would like to discuss a possible program, please contact me via email at cholette@geneseo.edu. Let me know the type of program you would like, the length, the audience, the format, and potential times/dates. You can also use this general Request a Counseling Outreach Program form. Please note that my availability is generally limited to business hours and that I'm unlikely to be available on short notice (<2 weeks).

YouTube and Spotify Resources

I offer videos, links to my YouTube channel, YouTube and Spotify playlists, and other resources on my Mind-Body Resources page.
