SUNY Geneseo Comes Together
in Remembrance of Kaitlin Charity
GENESEO,
N.Y.— The State University of New York at Geneseo will hold a memorial
service for Kaitlin Charity from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 in the MacVittie
College Union ballroom. Charity, 20, an English and secondary education major
from Islip, New York, died on Oct. 20 in a tragic hit-and-run accident on
Interstate 390 North while returning to the Geneseo campus.
The service has
been planned by two of Charity's closest friends in Nassau Hall— roommate
Chrissy Meyer and suitemate Laura Banks—in consultation with college
administrators. The memorial will be a nonreligious gathering in which
students, faculty and staff can stop by and write their thoughts on index cards
which will be compiled in a notebook and given to the Charity family.
At 8 p.m., the
service will become more structured, allowing those who wish to speak to share
any thoughts, poems or songs. William Harrison, English lecturer, and Robert
Bonfiglio, vice president for student and campus life, will deliver brief
remarks.
Media representatives
are asked to call the Office of Communications and Publications at (585)
245-5516 to confirm attendance so that logistical arrangements can be made.
