GENESEO,
N.Y. -- The State University of New York at Geneseo will feature the landscape
works of artist Robert Heischman in the exhibition “Garden’s Light” Sept. 8 –
Oct. 11 at the college’s Lockhart Gallery.
It is free and open to the public.
Included
in the exhibition is the 7th annual Lockhart Gala Sept. 13 from 6 -
8 p.m. in the gallery. Tickets for the
gala are $35 and are available by calling the Geneseo Foundation at
585-245-5519. Heischman plans to attend
the gala, for which the proceeds will support Lockhart Gallery programs and
exhibitions.
Heischman,
professor of art at the Rochester Institute of Technology, depicts formal
gardens that highlight architectural design, light and shadow in both natural
and geometric forms.
“This
artist has extraordinary color sensibility, particularly evident in the variety
of greens in his paintings, and we are pleased to be displaying his work,” says
Cynthia Hawkins, director of galleries at SUNY Geneseo. “The exhibit also will include several
paintings of the sandy California coast to provide contrast to the garden
greenery.”
Hawkins
says Heischman’s work captures what is seen with the natural eye and is
engaging close up and from a distance.
He was a guest scholar at Shanghai University in 1991.
The
Lockhart Gallery is at 26 Main St. in Geneseo.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., Friday
and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. For
additional information on the exhibition,
call 585-245-5779.
