SUNY Geneseo Again Named Best Buy in 2010 ‘Fiske Guide to
Colleges’
GENESEO,
N.Y. – The highly respected “Fiske Guide to Colleges” has named The State
University of New York at Geneseo among the country’s
44 “Best Buy” schools in the publication’s 2010 edition. Inclusion in the group is based on the
quality of academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance.
“Indeed,
this public institution attracts high achievers from around the nation,” the
guide notes. “Responsive, attentive
professors help compensate for the long winters and somewhat isolated
location. And excellent pre-professional
programs in disciplines such as education and business have been making it
harder to win admission to this most bucolic campus of the New York State
university system.”
Published
by former New York Times education
editor Edward Fiske, the guide highlights Geneseo as
a preferred option for students who want the feel of a private college at a
public-university price.
“This
Fiske Guide distinction is something Geneseo has
enjoyed in several previous editions of the guide and we’re always delighted to
be there,” said Bill Caren, vice president for
enrollment management at Geneseo. “We continue to see increasingly academically
talented students apply and attend and that is a testament to the strong
commitment our faculty have in teaching undergraduate students.”
Published
by Sourcebooks, Inc., the Fiske Guide accepts no consulting, advertising or
other fees from colleges and has no outside relationship with colleges working
on its behalf. The goal of the guide is
to help future students select the best colleges to reach their own goals in a
price range that is manageable for their personal circumstances.
