SUNY Geneseo Calendar of Events
for Dec. 6-17

THURSDAY, DECEMBER
6:
MILNE LIBRARY: The Corporate and Business Partners of SUNY Geneseo are sponsoring the Heavens
Above exhibit, a series of
transparencies and interactive media from deep space captured by the Hubble
Space Telescope while orbiting the earth over the past 16 years. The exhibit will be on display through

LOCKHART GALLERY: The Lockhart Gallery, located in the McClellan House,
26 Main St., Geneseo, presents the prints of Eileen Feeney Bushnell. The
exhibit runs through Wednesday, Dec. 12 and is free and open to the
public. Gallery hours are noon-4
p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and noon-8 p.m. Thursdays.
DANCE ENSEMBLE: The School of the Arts proudly presents the Geneseo
Dance Ensemble in Pivotal Moments,
a concert featuring works by faculty, guest artists, and students. With such a vast array of
choreographers, this concert is guaranteed to be an exciting revelation for the
audience.
Professor of Dance, Jonette
Lancos, will present two new works: "Energy Fusion," a free-spirited
contemporary dance set to music performed by Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road
Ensemble and "Meditation," a ballet performed to the music of Massenet. Ruben T. Ornelas, Assistant Professor
of Dance, will present "Poorhouse," a solo based on the history of the
Livingston County Poorhouse. Guest
artist Thomas Warfield, Director of Dance at the National Technical Institute
of the Deaf, Rochester Institute of Technology, will contribute "Gather Here,"
a reflective piece performed to the music of Andy Monroe.
The
concert will be at 8 p.m., December 6, 7 and 8 and at 2 p.m., December 9 in the
Alice Austin Theatre, Brodie Hall.

Tickets are for reserved seating and are $6.
Featured student works
include: Meaghan Fitzgerald's, "Teardrops of the Soul," a contemporary ballet
piece on surmounting tragedy,
Kaleigh Schwarz's "Hereafter" characterizing the emotional process as
one approaches death, and Megan
Marnell's "Yearning to Belong" a dance exploring relationships. Dance composition students will present
"Heavens Above," choreography inspired by photographs of the universe from the
Hubble space telescope.
Pivotal Moments is directed by Ruben Ornelas with Associate Director
Jonette Lancos and the support of Student Assistant Directors Whitney Forbes
and Caitlyn Redmond. The
hard-working production staff includes Johnnie Ferrell, Technical Director and
Lighting Designer; Crystal Ferrell, Costume Designer; and Andrew Tao Li, Leora
Bernstein, and Allison Unger, Stage Managers.
The Geneseo Dance Ensemble
is sponsored by the Academic Affairs Committee, Student Association, Alumni
Association, The Geneseo Foundation, Orchesis Dance Organization, and the
School of the Arts.
