SUNY Geneseo Calendar of Events for September 15-21

THURSDAY, SEPT. 15:

LEDERER GALLERY EXHIBIT: The Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery in Brodie Hall presents the SUNY Geneseo Faculty Exhibition. The gallery is open daily from 2-4:30 p.m. and Thursdays 12-8 p.m. Free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through Friday, Oct. 7.

LOCKHART GALLERY EXHIBIT: The Lockhart Gallery, located in the McClellan House, presents "In Our Cups: A National Ceramic Exhibition Celebrating the Drinking Vessel." It is the first time the gallery issued a call for work from numerous artists from around the nation. The request resulted in submissions from about 90 artists from 33 states, the nation's capital and two Canada provinces. All of the pieces of artwork are ceramic objects that serve as drinking vessels and are no larger than 12 inches in dimension in any direction. The gallery is open daily from 1-4 p.m. Free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Sept. 17.

WALTER HARDING LECTURE: Ronald A. Bosco, Distinguished University Professor of English and American Literature at the University at Albany, will deliver the second annual Walter Harding Lecture titled, "I came near awakening this morning: The Days of Emerson and Thoreau at Walden." The lecture will be held in Newton Hall, Room 201 at 7 p.m. A reception will follow in the Harding Lounge, Room 111 in Welles Hall. Free and open to the public.
