GENESEO, N.Y. — The Bank of Castile/Tompkins Insurance has made a $12,500 grant to the Geneseo Foundation to support public affairs, cultural, athletic and academic programs at the State University of New York at Geneseo.

The donation will be distributed to support college events, all of which benefit the region.

"This generous support reflects a longstanding relationship between the Bank of Castile/Tompkins Insurance and SUNY Geneseo and we are very appreciative of this partnership," said Art Hatton, president of the Geneseo Foundation and vice president for college advancement.

The events and the donation amounts are as follows:

• The college’s annual James Jeremiah Wadsworth Lecture: $5,000 in underwriting support for the event, which brings prominent speakers to Geneseo for a lecture that is free and open to the public.

• Bank of Castile/Tompkins Insurance Faculty Incentive Awards: Four $500 awards will be awarded annually to faculty to recognize outstanding service, research or creative activity. Different academic departments will be designated for these awards each year, and faculty recipients will be chosen by department chairs.

• Support for a Lockhart Art Gallery exhibit in the amount of $1,500.

• Athletic Sponsorships: $2,000 to be a hole sponsor at the Blue Knights Golf Classic in August, corporate signs in Wilson Ice Arena and Kuhl Gymnasium and membership in the Blue Knights Roundtable.

• Charles "Bud" VanArsdale Scholarship Endowment: $2,000 added to the scholarship endowment, with income supporting an annual named scholarship for an outstanding student in the Jones School of Business.
