Geneseo Alumni Association appoints two Western New York residents to Board of Directors

Geneseo, N.Y.—The Geneseo Alumni Association (GAA) has announced the appointment of two State University of New York at Geneseo graduates and residents of Western New York to its board of directors.

The appointments of Ian Harrop of Painted Post, N.Y., and Mark Kane of West Seneca, N.Y., were formally approved at the GAA board's annual meeting this spring. In recommending these two individuals for election to the board, the nominations committee noted their professional skills in finance and accounting and their experience as volunteers at the college and in their communities.

Harrop, who graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1989, is manager of global credit at Corning, Inc., and board treasurer for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and the Rockwell Museum in Corning, N.Y. He also is a board member and past president of Planned Parenthood for the Southern Finger Lakes and has served for several years as a member of Geneseo's Jones School of Business Advisory Council. Harrop majored in economics at Geneseo and then earned an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Lynette Estep, live in Painted Post, N.Y.

Kane, who graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1980, is a partner at Kane & Sabo Certified Public Accountants in Williamsville, N.Y., and serves in various organizations as a volunteer. These include the Column of Hope Chiari and Syringomyelia Research Foundation, of which he is president; the Health Care Industry Association of the Niagara Frontier; and West Seneca Youth Soccer. Kane majored in management science/accounting at Geneseo and earned an MBA from SUNY Buffalo. He lives in West Seneca, N.Y., with his wife, Barbara Bangarter Kane, who also graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1980. Two of the Kanes' children also chose to attend Geneseo: Laura Kane graduated in May 2006, and Joseph Kane enters his sophomore year at the college this fall. Mark and Barbara's youngest son is a high school student.
